Wondermama @ Bangsar Village
WM Special Spaghetti
The tomato base of this spaghetti tasted very different.
It was slightly spicy and resembled a little like the sambals we get in nasi lemak.
The taste is more of a sweet and spicy plus the sour bits of the tomato base.
Peanut Butter & Choc Cake
one of the really good cakes tasted so far.
the chocolate cake had a smooth moist texture
& the peanut butter topped it off to a really good combination;
the slight tinge of saltiness and also creamy texture complimented the cake well
Seafood @ Filipino Market. Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Shopping for fresh produce @ Tamu Penampang
Extra saving alternative to maximise budget meals.
& also by shopping at the market we get live fishes.
Way fresher compared to frozen ones available at the stalls.
Mind us, we were pretty surprised to see the way fishes were sold here in KK.
Back in KL the stalls mostly sell fishes that are already dead & lay them openly on ice trays.
alternatively the fresher ones be live in transparent fish tanks.
The filipino market is like an open air concept.
something I'd describe as a hawker stall cross pasar malam.
First impression?
Super competitive environment.
Good in a way, that means only the best of the best survives.
Bad in another way where its just super confusing cos they're really aggressive to get business.
Seating comfort? Cant expect much from a budget place.
Its actually pretty good & clean to be honest.
No dead animal parts on the floors etc.
Good enough!
I seriously have no idea how people remember which stall they ate at, or want to go back to.
There really ain't much of any signboards or whatsoever.
We bought our own beer along from a cheap place opposite our hotel.
3 bottles of Budweiser for RM12 and 3 cans of Carlsberg for RM10
& yup, the stalls here dont make noise when u don't buy drinks from them.
SUPER NICE PEOPLE OMG!
Soup clam dish.
Super delicious soup. Clear soup, slight hint of sour & salty seafood-ish
& the clams we're nicely done!
Not over cooked & also not too raw.
Another part of the clams we're cooked in Sambal sauce.
Pretty different that what we'd expect in KL.
By the way! We got these two plates worth of clams for only RM10!
Our exotic catfish.
Bought "LIVE" on the spot in the market. (was a lil hesitant bout it)
Cost only RM8.
Was a little disappointed how this one turned out,
we ordered it to be cooked in Soy sauce.
Honestly didnt expect them to chop the fishes into chunks in deep fry it first.
Couldnt taste the fish much.
Couldnt even tell which part was edible cos it was all coated with flour.
The famous Sabah Veggie.
All these for only RM3
We were told these are only available at Sabah itself. Was so hyped to try them!!
But sadly I think the lady sold us some really "old" veggies.
It was bitter and really chewy.
Pumpkin leaves!!!
Never even knew these were edible!!
The veggies looked really interesting because the leaves and all looked 'furry'
& they were actually quite thick and huge.
I was so interested to know how it tasted.
& this one turned out pretty nice. Sweet-ish due to the egg gravy.
But good.

Plus One Raikan Chicken Rice @ Central Market. Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Another one of our budget finds in KK, Sabah.
This spot is a little hidden at Central Mall.
We were told by our friend that this spot has chicken rice stalls in various prices.
It seems that prices go higher in each stall.
The deeper ones are more pricey.
Of course, you get what you pay for.
We decided to have a taste of the cheapest chicken rice we could find there.
This is how the RM2.70 chicken rice looks like.
Yup. I guess its pretty legit.
What would you expect?
Yup. I guess its pretty legit.
What would you expect?
Unknowingly, we ordered one chicken breast
and the rest was chicken drumsticks.
The taste?
The sauce they put the chicken in is slightly different from the soy sauce base we get in KL.
The sauce they put the chicken in is slightly different from the soy sauce base we get in KL.
It tastes like chicken soup plus oyster sauce (and probably a lot of m.s.g)
The chilli sauce provided is a little more like the "thai" chilli sauce we get from the bottles.
Sweet based spiciness with a sticky texture to it.
& Of course, as KL people,
we are super curious how possibly are they to earn with such cheap prices?
We ordered our drinks,
& here comes the first catch.
the drinks costs an average of RM2 each.
Thats a little pricier than usual for drinks.
Which totals the meal back up to about RM5 at the end, unless you dont drink.
It was a pretty ok budget meal.
We finished up and went off to pay
only to find out at the cashier that of course the RM2.70 meal has another catch to it.
If you did not order (point directly) at the RM2.70 chicken rice,
the drumstick rice costs RM4 each instead.
Only the chicken breast was RM2.70.
Yup. tricky isnt it?
Upperstar Grill & Bar @ Segama Complex, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
One of our awesome discoveries at Kota Kinabalu.
We believe this would be one of the go-to places for a late night drink
In a travelers' perspective of course,
Quite a wide selection of drinks available.
The price, is surprisingly inexpensive
The price, is surprisingly inexpensive
considering the ambiance reminds us of places like TGIF or Chili's.
This was one of the orders.
If not mistaken its called "the upperstar" or something similar
basically this drink is an alcoholic chocolate milkshake.
Baileys, Vodka and Chocolate.
Seafront Cafe @ Waterfront Esplanade Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
All the questioning and confusion took a toll on the ABC ice.
My apologies for not capturing a picture of it whilst it was still in ice form.
